Chief Investment Officer – Single Family Office
Our client, a newly established Single‑Family Office is seeking a highly sophisticated and disciplined Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the investment strategy and portfolio management. The primary mandate is to manage, optimize, and scale their core Long/Short Equity strategy to achieve superior risk‑adjusted returns while preserving generational capital.
The ideal candidate possesses deep public equity markets expertise across US, HK, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore Stock Markets. A proven track record of managing long/short portfolios, and the unique emotional intelligence required to interface directly with family principals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Design and execute the global Long/Short Equity investment framework.
- Allocate capital dynamically between long high‑conviction ideas and short hedges.
- Direct fundamental bottom‑up research, equity valuation, and financial modeling.
- Manage portfolio beta, net/gross exposure, and factor risks actively.
- Risk Management & Capital Preservation
- Implement strict stop‑loss discipline and drawdown mitigation protocols.
- Stress‑test the equity portfolio against macroeconomic shocks and market liquidity constraints.
- Ensure the portfolio aligns with the family’s unique liquidity needs and long‑term horizons.
- Leadership & Operations
- Lead, mentor, and build a lean but high‑performing team of one to two investment analysts, execution trader
- Oversee the selection and management of prime brokers, custodians, and execution platforms.
- Present comprehensive performance reports, market outlooks, and risk metrics to family principals.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of institutional public equity investing experience.
- At least 5 years as a Portfolio Manager (PM) or Co‑PM at a reputable hedge fund or family office.
- Proven, verifiable track record of generating alpha in long/short equity mandates.
- Skills & Knowledge
- Mastery of fundamental analysis, corporate capital structures, and market microstructure.
- Deep understanding of derivative instruments (options, swaps) used for hedging and leverage.
- Exceptional communication skills to translate complex market dynamics for non‑technical family members.
- Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a quantitative field; MBA or Master’s preferred.
- CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder designation is highly preferred.
